Dalam rangka mempromosikan peran dan kontribusi Henrik Ibsen, Budayawan Norwegia (20 Maret 1828- 23 Mei 1906) dalam pengembangan seni drama modern, Pemerintah Kerajaan Norwegia meluncurkan International Ibsen Scholarship 2011. Pemerintah Norwegia menyediakan dana kurang lebih USD 160.000 untuk diserahkan bagi proyek-proyek berskala dunia yang berhubungan dengan pengaruh gaya seni Henrik Ibsen.
Penghargaan tahunan ini berlaku untuk perseorangan, organisasi atau institusi yang berkecimpung dalam bidang seni dan kebudayaan. Penghargaan tahun 2011 akan diselenggarakan di tempat kelahiran Henrik Ibsen di kota Skien, Norwegia dalam acara Skien International Ibsen Conference pada tanggal 19 dan 20 September.

The International Ibsen Scholarships were initiated by the Norwegian government and will be handed out for the 4th time in 2011.
Scholarship funds amount to 1,000,000 NOK (approx. 125.000 Euro/160.000 US Dollars) will be awarded to Ibsen-related projects worldwide. We wish for as many relevant applications as possible, from projects throughout the world.
The scholarships are meant to act as incentives for critical discourse in regards to existential and society-related subject matters concerning Henrik Ibsen. Scholarships are applicable to individuals, organizations or institutions within the artistic and cultural community.The International Ibsen Scholarships are awarded annually and the applications are subject to scrutiny by an appointed jury.
Previous years, projects from Asia, North-America, Europe, Africa and Australia have received scholarships. The presentation of the scholarship recipients 2011 is staged in Henrik Ibsen’s city of birth, Skien, Norway on September 19th and 20th and coincides with the Skien International Ibsen Conference.
The application deadline for The International Ibsen Scholarships is April 15th, 2011.
Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

The International Ibsen Award Committee hereby calls for nominations of candidates for the International Ibsen Award 2012.
The International Ibsen Award was established by the Norwegian Parliament in 2007, and amounts to NOK 2.5 million (approx. €300,000).
The International Ibsen Award honors an individual, institution or organization that has brought new artistic dimensions to the world of drama or theater. The winner of the 2010 Award was the internationally renowned playwright Jon Fosse. In 2009 the winner was Ariane Mnouchkine – founder and leader of Théâtre du Soleil.
Who can nominate?
The right to nominate is open to anyone. The nomination letter must be written in English and state the reasons for nomination (maximum 3 pages). The letter should contain a brief CV for the candidate, and two-three suggested referees who know and can provide additional information about the candidate’s work. Self nominations are not acceptable. Nominations are strictly confidential. They should not be disclosed to the nominee or to others, not even after the prize winner has been announced.

Deadline for nomination is May 1. 2011. Please note that submitted material will not be returned.
